Worcester Chapter of the American Guild of Organists
    founded 1949

The purpose of the American Guild of Organists is
to promote the organ in its historic and evolving roles, to encourage excellence
in the performance of organ and choral music, and to provide a forum for mutual
support and inspiration, and education of Guild members.
Our Worcester Chapter, some 200 strong,
was founded in 1949 to represent and implement the national goals
and ideals in the Central Massachusetts areas. Some of our local
programs and activities include:
  - Hosting pipe organ and choral concerts
of a wide range of music, musicians, and instruments in the Worcester
  area

 - Sponsoring student scholarships each year
to promote new organist training and interest

 - Educational workshops to improve skills
  of members

 - Job placement
services for both the hiring organization
  and the musician job seeker

 - Co-sponsor of a music
library collection at the Fenwick Music Library at the College
  of the Holy Cross

 - Sponsor young organist competitions every
other year, where the winner proceeds to the regional competition

 - In 1999, we host the Region
I AGO convention, as we did in 1983.

 - Serve as consultant for disputes and concerns
that may arise between musician and clergy/employer
